Hi

I have been reading since i was about 5yrs old and i have also been through the various phases of reading as i call it.. Tinkle, Enid blyton,Mystery,Romance,Medical fiction, more romance, MnB’s to the latest Da vinci code..  i grew up in a small town called Tirunelveli, where there were no libraries, so i used to make it a point to shop for books everytime i visited Chennai during holidays... But once we moved to chennai and i realised this is an amazing town that had many lending libraries, i enrolled myself in one ,called Ramonas, its on Valluvar kottam high road..not a very big library, nor does it have the luxury of space but the collection of books was good and the most important aspect that made me stay on as a loyal customer was the lady who used to run it. she would reccomend authors and books...The membership cos here was Rs250 when i joined way back and you could keep the books for abt 10days....

As i finished school and went into college, the kind of books i read also changed.. I moved on to Management related books, and for this i made use of the membership at British Council, on Mount road that i had acquired thanks to my dad.. This library not only quences the undying thirst for knowledge is a place where one gets to meet interesting people from different backgrounds and opens your eye to a whole new world ..... I absolutely enjoyed my MBA thanks to this library.. The location of the library, plenty of space and tables for us to sit and browse through piles of books before picking out the best ones, internet access , pc’s to browse through the list of books available and to search for the one we wanted ..... Membership fee for individuals is now Rs900 or 950,not too sure and books can be borrowed and retained for 2weeks.. you can also avail a membership that allows you to borrow DVD’s

Another library that i got introduced to around 2003-2003 is Eloor Lending Library in Tnagar,North Boag road, the one that leads to Residency Towers. My friend and colleague used to be a member and thats how i came to know about the wide variety of books they had... IT is an amazing place, esp if you are someone who reads different genre n would love to borrow magazines as well as books.. This friend of mine, infact gifted me the Membership to this library and i absolutely love this place.. you can borrow a book and keep it for 3weeks, rates are nominal...10% of book cost is the reading
charge and subscription was Rs900/- when i got it about 2yrs back.

So, if your someone who freaks out on books but dont have space at home to store them or find it expensive to buy books, you can check out any of these.. but do become a member, cos books are something that atleast i can never say NO to...

:)Happy browsing and reading....
